    • Why is Bromley Healthcare running my local service?
      • Bromley Healthcare was established on 1 April 2011 to provide out-of-hospital health services in Bromley. We now also care for people in Bexley, Croydon and Lewisham and our reach continues to grow. We are an independent community interest company that has been awarded the contract by local healthcare commissioners to deliver community healthcare services to the communities they serve. We’ve grown from working in just one borough to being one of the UK’s leading providers of community health services. We’re a community interest company formed of over 800 people delivering high-quality NHS services. Our ethos and unique approach has contributed to our success. We believe in putting clinicians in the driving seat and empowering front-line staff to make decisions about how services should be run. This has made us patient-focused and efficient, taking the best that the NHS has to offer, removing some of the bureaucracy and focusing on quality healthcare. We provide services in clinics, hospitals, community settings, nursing homes and other many other places. You can find out more about us by exploring our website: bromleyhealthcare.org.uk.

    • What services does Bromley Healthcare provide?
      • Bromley Healthcare is a community health care provider, providing a wide range of services to people of all ages. From health visiting to district nursing, school nurses to specialist nurses, our nursing services help new parents to care for new born children and older people to continue living at home through care and support. In addition to this broad range of nursing services we also have a wide range of therapy services for adults and children. This includes speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Our specialist services focus on those living with specific conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and diabetes.

Explore our services for more information on the services we provide.

    • Are your services free?
      • Yes. Bromley Healthcare provides Public Health and NHS services which are free at the point of use to patients, on behalf of the local commissioners that have awarded us the contract to provide services to the communities they serve.

We are not a private health company but a community interest company, owned by our staff. As a social enterprise we are driven by what is best for our patients and staff, not profit. Any surplus income we earn is invested back into the communities we work in or reinvested in improving the service we provide to our patients

    • How do I make an appointment with a Nurse?
      • Call us on 0300 330 5777 or use the live chat function to speak to someone now.

    • If someone is allergic and has to keep an Epi-pen for emergencies, can they go away with the school?
      • Yes. Just because someone has severe allergic reactions doesn’t mean they can’t lead a normal life. School staff are trained to recognise symptoms of anaphylaxis and to administer the adrenaline injection. If you have an adrenaline pen you will have a health care plan which will ensure that your health needs are being met by the school. If you want more information about anaphylaxis and allergies, click on the links you will find on NHS Choices, call us on 0300 330 5777 or get in touch using the live chat.

    • My friends keep asking me for money and I can't say no because I'm scared they won't be my friends if I don't listen to them. What do I do?
      • It’s always hard when you believe not doing something will affect a friendship It is important to be honest and tell your friends how you feel, if they are good friends they will understand. You do have choices and must think about yourself. You should discuss your worries with a parent, relative, your school nurse or school teacher and ask their advice. They will be able to support you. If you want to discuss this anonymously please call us on 0300 330 5777 or get touch using the live chat.

    • I’m not considered fat by other people, but I think I am fat.
      • How you see your physical self and what you believe about how other people see you is considered as your self-image. Your self-image in turn may have an effect on your self-esteem, which is how you feel about yourself, what you are worth and how people value you.

Different factors influence a person’s self-esteem such as puberty and development, media images, school and family. Suggestions for overcoming the feeling of being fat inside include:

Recognising that your body is your own, no matter what your shape or size is. Normal comes in all shapes and sizes and as long as you are healthy, that’s what matters. It is important that you are happy with yourself.

You may also wish to try building your self-esteem by giving yourself positive compliments every day. Focus on what is going well for you.

Try speaking to yourself to stop, when you begin to hear negative comments coming from within you.

You may want to make certain changes like getting fit by setting achievable goals and having an exercise plan.

You may also wish to visit your doctor if you continue to worry about feeling ‘fat’.

There is a wealth of information out there that you may wish to access to help boost yourself confidence such as NHS Choices.

If you are still worried and would like an appointment with your school nurse please call us on 0300 330 5777 or speak with someone now using the live chat.
